Biography

Carolyn Silverstein, 67, of Griswold passed away at home surrounded by family Tuesday night, February 2, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Carolyn was born on February 11, 1942 in Hartford, daughter of Robert Holmgren Sr. and Caroline Abrams. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a cook at the Norwich State Hospital for many years. Her interests included gardening, flea markets, and yard sales. In addition, she enjoyed and was talented with interior decorating.

Carolyn is survived by her two daughters, Tricia Allen and Shala Silverstein, both of Jewett City; her brothers: Robert Holmgren, Jr. of Marlborough, Carl Holmgren of East Hartford, and Richard Holmgren of Salem. She was predeceased by her brother, Butch Holmgren. Carolyn is also survived by her sisters Diane Murzyn of Marlborough and Elaine Pagani of Burlington, CT and her grandchildren Kaitlyn Ensling, Kendallynn Ensling, and Robert DeRico.
