Cremation
Cremation has become an increasingly popular choice for final disposition in the United States. It is estimated that 25 years ago, only 14% of all deaths in the U.S. involved cremation whereas today, that number is estimated at 36%. The staff of Leffler Funeral Home recognizes this growing trend and strives to provide families with choices with regards to cremation. That is, we offer cremation packages that give our clients options for both services and products for cremation including private or public services, rental caskets for viewing, urns, keepsakes, and more.
We would also like to take this opportunity to provide you with some information about cremation as per Connecticut State Law in terms of timing of services when your loved one has passed:
*A person may not be cremated until a 48 hour waiting period has passed
*A medical examiner from the State of CT must visit the funeral home to examine the decedent and authorize the cremation.
*Crematories require at least the use of a minimum container for cremation usually made of fiber board or particle board or you may choose a casket from our casket selection room.
If you have any questions with regards to cremation or are seeking some additional information about options available for memorialization with cremation, please contact Thomas Leffler at (860) 376-4014.
